Home London Visitor Advice Libraries

Libraries

There are plenty of them, but they will only lend books based on a permanent UK address. British Library: is different to other libraries. Anyone can enter, but access to the reading rooms via a Reader Pass. You can however use any facilities onsite, which usually extends to free Internet and Wifi access, magazines and any works of reference. They are provided and maintained by local councils and only charge for late returns, or borrowing CD/DVDs.

Libraries are also popular places to shelter from the elements during the winter, especially if it's raining or snowing.
