Bedford and Strand - Covent Garden
Bedford and Strand is easy to miss as you're magnetically drawn up Bedford Street, to Covent Garden's piazza. Take a detour
into an excellent wine bar and deli that local workers have known about for some time. Aside from the informed choice of wines with tasting notes, there are robust cheese and charcuterie boards, olives, anchovies, stuffed peppers and calamari, which perfectly complement the appreciation of a full-bodied tipple.
It's possible to book a table at Bedford & Strand online via their [rudimentary] website (though a new one is promised soon) and it is recommended to do so. As mentioned, it's slap-bang in the middle of tourist London where a never ending stream of visitors head from Trafalgar Square to Covent Garden and back again.
Decent places to eat and drink are thin on the ground, so keep Bedford & Strand in your back-pocket. What's also impressive is the number of wines available by the glass. Further encouraging you to experiment and try new taste combinations. Finally, the pricing is competitive for the quality of the food and location - with a couple of courses coming in at just under the £20 mark.
The entrance is inauspicious, a few doors up Bedford Street on the left (from the Strand) - see the map below.
